How a "rhizomatic" business works

Rhizomatic Arts cultivates creative sustainability through collaboration and exchange. People are often curious how we operate, so here's an overview of our peer-powered business model.

The Roots

One-on-one services such as web design, coaching, and workshops seed all of our activities. These are the projects that help provide the foundation artists need to survive and thrive, and every dollar earned helps to germinate Rhizomatic Arts programs, from workshops to happy hours.

The Shoots

Our clients, colleagues, and workshop participants become part of a network of artists which meets to talk about what we need and what we have to share. As a plant uses its leaves to photosynthesize, we are nourished as a community by these social connections.

The Blooms

Rhizomatic Studio generates artistic projects (performances, writing, and workshops) premised on collaboration and exchange. These are the “pretty bits”—the offerings we share with the world!

Allison Wyper
I am an interdisciplinary artist with over a decade of experience providing administrative, marketing, and production support for artists and creative professionals nationwide. I founded Rhizomatic Arts to provide affordable professional consulting, training, and services to independent creatives and small companies. Rhizomatic Arts takes a holistic approach to creative sustainability, supporting the cultural eco-system on a grassroots, person-to-person level, empowering artists to take charge of their own careers within a supportive network of peers. Our Sustainability Network connects creatives with skills and resources to share, via a mutually-supportive gift economy. Our motto: "work independently, not alone."
